VALE Sally George

This has been a very sad week within the Australian Arabian Horse Community with the loss of two very influential figures.

It is with deep sadness that we advise that our former Chairperson, Mrs Sally George passed away on Saturday, 27th April 2019.

From our Secretary, Helen Dohan...

Sally George was a true ambassador not only to the AHSA but to the entire showing community. She was an amazing and energetic person who had the rare gift of being able to engage with people from all walks of life and cultures. Her contribution to the Arabian industry was immense. She was a Treasurer and then Chairman of the Society and helped to organise the WAHO Conference that was held on the Gold Coast. A true lady, Sally even managed to be elegant when playing with horses and she never failed to go out of her way to speak to people no matter how busy she was. A devoted mother to Nina and wife to Peter, Sally was enjoying being a grandmother for the first time and looking forward to the future with her family. Her passing is a tragedy for all who knew and loved her.

The AHSA would like to Thank Coralie for her beautiful facebook tribute to Sally, copied below for all to read...

Yesterday came the sad news that SALLY George had passed away after an accident at home some days ago. I have watched her many friends struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of this vibrant, memorable personality, who divided her life between Arabian horses, hacks and ponies, to all of which she was devoted. Sally served 10 years on the Board of the Arabian Horse Society, including terms as Treasurer and Chairman, and was made an Honorary Life Member in 2000.... She loved the showring, and in more recent years her partnership with the Riding Pony Rathowen Scarlet Ribbons was enormously successful. As one of her friends has said, Sally was just one of those people who lit up a room, and she was always where the fun was. She was also extremely capable and well organized. The photo is one of Sally and another past Chairman of the AHSA Terry Canacott, having fun on a boat trip at the 2000 WAHO Conference on the Gold Coast. Sally leaves her husband Peter, daughter Nina Stone, and her granddaughter Madeline. RIP

Sallys daughter Nina, has recently posted....

Peter George and I would like to invite friends and family to attend the funeral service for Sally George to be held at 11am on Wednesday 8 May 2019 at Allambie Gardens Chapel, with tea and coffee to follow at Emerald Lakes. Please contact me directly if you have any questions ❤️
