TREASURER – Mrs Deb Watson

Phone: 07 5426 8294

My husband and I have been Arabian owners and breeders since 1973 with numerous Moondarra bred horses being exported overseas for breeding, endurance and show. We have travelled extensively both in Australia and to many parts of the world and have imported three Arabian mares from Poland. I am a International Panel Arabian Judge, accredited Miniature horse judge and Show Horse Council judge.

We have bred and shown Australian Champion Halter and Performance horses and currently show at several "A" and "AA" shows when time permits both halter and performance, breeding 2 - 5 foals yearly. We also have endurance horses competing in Australia and overseas and have arabian horses both racing and certified to race.

I am the current Chairperson of the Qld Arabian Judges Group, having also held the treasurer and secretary’s positions within this Group at various times. I am also a Life Member of the Arabian Valley Horse Club, as I was Treasurer for that club for more than 20 years. I have been the bookkeeper (past) of Australian Endurance Riders Association for 6 years and the treasurer of the Queensland Endurance Riders Association for several years (past) and I am the current Secretary of the Lockyer Race Club (thoroughbred racing).

I am self employed as an administration officer, bookkeeper and OHS Consultant for several small/medium sized companies and I also have a Certificate IV in Business and a Diploma in OHS.

I am excited about the prospect of representing the members at board level and while I have met a considerable number of the members in most states, I look forward to making the acquaintance of many more. I am committed to ensuring full and direct communication from the board to the members and vice versa, continuing the great work of the immediate past Treasurer in all matters financial and upholding the true traditions of the arabian horse in breeding, conformation and versatility. I embrace the future with confidence in the office staff, fellow board members and the membership and I encourage members to make contact with any relevant issues.
